WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING CONTEST AND OPIUM100 SUBMISSIONS AT THIS TIME. AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IS BELOW. If you do want to submit to Opium100, submit ONLY humor stories (they can be previously published). An explanation is here. Those can be emailed to opiumforthearts@gmail.com. -------- Because we haven't lived up to our personal standards of handling submission in a timely fashion, and because so many submissions remain unanswered, we are currently doing something we very much dislike: putting a halt to submissions, for the time being. We fully understand the importance of the work that's submitted to us, and for those that haven't received a response, we understand your frustration. The gift/curse of literary magazines is the more impact you make, the more submission you receive. It can be very difficult to keep up. If you're waiting for a response: We'll get to your work, we promise. If you've already placed it, or are plain sick of waiting, please do withdraw it from our system so we can hurry the process for all involved. Know that it's a very interesting time for Opium, and big transitions are happening (we've just become a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and after nine years of barely affording to run Opium in any way/shape/form). We're now pushing very hard for donations so we can create a model that is sustainable for us. We've grown fast, tried to do more than was logical, succeeded at the outset, but our goal is sustainable awesomeness. And we're now faced with searching for a more financially viable way to do what we always have, and will continue to do: fight hard to put literature firmly back into the pop culture conversation. And if you'd like to support what we do, donate or subscribe, we'd obviously love that: shop.opiummagazine.com We hope to have our online system back up and running in a few months. A long stretch, but it's just too important to us to take care of the submissions and writers we haven't yet answered. Thanks for your understanding and your past, current (and hopefully future) support. Todd Zuniga Opium Magazine founding editor |
